Mitt Romney used to be pro-choice. Not any more, not in the slightest. Romney’s campaign website now has his “pro-life pledge,” which states, among other things: that abortion should be available only in cases of rape, incest, or medical necessity when the life of the mother is at risk; that Roe v. Wade should be overturned; support for the Hyde Amendment (no federal funding) and Mexico City policy (no support for non-abortion family planning services to groups that use non-federal dollars to provide or advocate for abortion in the international arena).
Very sad to see how the quest for ultimate power can make people turn their back on deeply-held, personal beliefs.
